Galapagos June 2007
The Galapagos Islands since Charles Darwin's 1835 visit have been a Cultural, Scientific, and Natural icon for Humanity. Its easy to see why the Galapagos Islands were an instrumental source of inspiration and data for Darwin's 1859 book "Origin of Species". The Islands remain a source of management controversy as does the scientific theory of Evolution (amazingly) !! The current Master Plan calls for 3% human development and 97% preservation. The Islands are completely within a National Park and Marine Sanctuary. Hopefully, ecotourism will continue with minimal impact on one of the planet's most unique ecosystems....Personally this was one of the best trips we have ever taken.
