New England with its frequently harsh winters is a perfect ice climbing factory....Frankenstein Cliffs, Crawford Notch, Huntington Ravine, Cannon Mountain, Lake Wiloughby are all famous for their technical ice....Pictures of ice climbing are relatively rare-a full size 35mm camera and dachstein mitts made for some challenging photography....My accomplices included Ken Andrasko, Don Fraser, Paul LeDoux, Rob Milne, Matt Peer, Tim Ryan, and others....A memorable conclusion to a day on the frozen waterfalls included a large bowl of French onion soup at "Horsefeathers" in North Conway. My Chouinard 70 cm bamboo shaft piolet which now is wall hanging symbolizes the elegance and simplicity of those times....
