The "Haute Route" is a number of hut to hut and peak to peak routes between Chamonix (Mont Blanc) France and Zermatt (Matterhorn)/Saas Fee Switzerland. The Haute Route is the "classic" ski mountaineering tour as it encompasses 4,000 meter peaks, high passes, glacier skiing, ski ascents, and just about every snow /weather combination imagineable...In April 2004, I had the good fortune to add the "Haute Route" to my list of "gonzo abusive" adventures that I have survived! A memorable trip for its mountains, skiing , old friends and new acquaintences. Ruedi Beglinger insured that the adventure was maximized! Skins-on and Berg Heil!
